Veteran Becomes First to Receive “Call of Duty” Bionic Arm

Danielle Green, a U.S. Army veteran from Chicago, has become the first person in the world to be fitted with a new “Hero RGD” bionic arm inspired by the video game “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.” The 48-year-old, who lost her left arm in a grenade attack while serving in Baghdad in 2004, says the advanced prosthetic makes her feel whole again and has already improved her daily life.

The Hero RGD, created by UK robotics company Open Bionics with support from the Call of Duty Endowment, has been described as the world’s strongest bionic arm. It can lift up to 35 kilograms, survive shocks and wet conditions, and uses titanium joints and spring-loaded fingers for speed and strength.

Green debuted the arm earlier this week at the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl VI (6) in Las Vegas. She explained how it now allows her to cook more easily and balance tasks between hands, relieving strain on her other arm. She said the project is also about inspiring others, especially young amputees and fellow veterans.
