Inspired by games he would play with his family, 7 year old Alex Butler from Seattle created a card game called Taco vs Burrito. That was in 2017 With the help of his parents, Leslie Pierson and Mark Butler, they launched a crowdfunding campaign and raised $25-thousand to produce the game.
The family founded a company called Hot Taco Inc and found a manufacturer then started making videos of themselves having fun playing the game.
They put Taco vs Burrito up for sale on Amazon. The game quickly gained popularity, becoming Amazon’s top bestselling game and brought in $1.1-million in 2018. Sales have increased annually since then.
Last month, the now 15-year-old Alex sold his game to Wisconsin-based PlayMonster for an undisclosed amount of cash. “It was never something that I’ve been attached to or anything,” the teen says, “Even as a kid I just kind of wanted to get the most money out of it.” Now a multi-millionaire, Alex is still deciding what he’ll do with his newfound wealth. "Probably find something to invest in, maybe create something else new but I'm definitely eyeing a Lamborghini that is making my mother furious"!
