9 Year Old Experiences A Miracle According To Doctors

Nine-year-old Gus Deterding of Minnesota was helping his dad pack for a hunting trip with his father when he slipped on ice while carrying a bow and arrow. The arrow entered his head near his nose. Before his dad had even looked backed Gus pulled the arrow out. KCRG-TV reports that it appeared to them to be a bad cut that would need some stiches but they weren't worried about the event being life threatening.

They drove Gus to the hospital where he told the Doctor what had happened. The Dr agreed with the parents that they probably just needed some stiches but just to be safe ordered some scans. As they were about to start that Gus began vomiting. This greatly concerned the doctor as this could be an indication of a serious brain injury. The scan took everyone's breath away. The arrow had actually gone through his brain and hit the back of his skull!

Dr. Ken Maslonka, the medical director of the Children’s Minnesota pediatric intensive care unit. “I would say in the 28 years I’ve been at Children’s Minnesota, I’ve never seen anything like this. Looking at the trajectory of the arrow Gus should be dead. This is an un survivable event. Yet there's Gus talking and the same as he was before the accident. It’s either fortune at a minimum, or it’s [the] heavenly presence of God controlling the direction of that arrow,”
