Taylor Swift has the chance to buy her master recordings back. The surprise development arose after her enemy Scooter Braun encouraged the current owner to sell them back to her. Scooter became Taylor's enemy when he bought the master recordings for her first 6 albums for 300 million in 2019. He sold them in 2023 for 450 million to investment firm Shamrock Capital.
Now Scooter is encouraging Shamrock sell the masters back to Taylor. The firm is said to be interested in doing that and the albums back under negotiation are: “Taylor Swift,” “Fearless,” “Speak Now,” “Red,” “1989” and “Reputation.” The recordings are now valued at least $600-million.
If she bought them Taylor would have full control whether they are licensed for use in commercials, film and TV shows, at political rallies and more.
