Neighbors Save Girl From House Fire

Sunday night around 9 PM, in Peachtree City, Georgia, a 2 story home erupted into flames, trapping a 17 year old girl in her bedroom on the second floor. She was home with her 13 year old brother when what is believed to be a gas leak caused an explosion in the kitchen.

Fox 5 Atlanta reports that the boy was in the living room and ran out the front door. His sister heard the explosion and by the time she opened her door the 2nd floor was filled with smoke. The entire first floor was engulfed in under a minute estimates the fire department. One neighbor, JC Shegog, heard the explosion and came outside to see what was happening. He saw the boy in the yard screaming someone help save my sister. JC grabbed his ladder from the garage and ran across the street and placed a ladder under her window to help her down.

Their mother is a Doctor was working at the hospital and rushed home to hug her kids. She went on social media to express her deep gratitude to JC whom she had never met but would wave at each other if they saw each other while driving out of the neighborhood. "You put your life on the line for our family and we will be connected forever now". JC is a former military and law enforcement officer, who now works as a security consultant and even has a book on the subject through his site.

Peachtree City officials say they are now planning to be honor JC for his actions.
