Casey Colvin, lost his home in the Palisades Fire. Wednesday Calvin was at work when the evacuation order went out. He wasn't allowed to go home to try and save anything. All of his possessions were assumed lost in the fire.
Sunday afternoon the residents of the neighborhood were finally allowed to return to rummage through the ashes and see if they could save anything. Casey like all others returning are emotional wrecks seeing the devastation to their homes for the first time. His home was completely destroyed. But he had brought with him a chip tracker on his beloved white Pomeranian Oreo. It was beeping at his neighbor's house. Could Oreo have survived the fire and 5 nights on his own, or more likely it was just the chip still activated. Casey hesitantly walked to his neighbors house fearful and yet still hopeful on what he would find.
As he was about to walk up the driveway at the top of the hill we see a small figure. Could it be Oreo? He had Oreo's squeaky toy and made the squeak and saw the figure's tail wag. He then began calling Oreo. Slowly at first the dog moves towards Casey and then as they both recognize each other the excitement goes off the charts!
When he finally has Oreo in his arms Casey begins running around like a man who just caught the pass that won the Superbowl! In a string of stories that has been heartbreaking we all needed a win. And we got one with Oreo.
