Eric Dickerson: Christian McCaffrey Gets Disrespected Because He's White

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Carolina Panthers
Colin Cowherd: “I always remember your physicality. Christian McCaffrey looks like your little brother, he’s like a barstool. You couldn’t hide from anyone Eric, you’re big. I worry about McCaffrey. He will squirt out of that line and I can’t see him. It’s almost as if the first time the linebacker sees him he’s on him. What do you think of McCaffrey?”
Eric Dickerson: “He went to Stanford and people said he ‘couldn’t take the pounding of the NFL, he’s too little’, but Stanford’s offense was BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. I like Christian McCaffrey, and he does not get the credit that he deserves right now and why do you think? Because he’s a white running back.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to former NFL star running back and Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson join The Herd to discuss Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey’s MVP candidacy as the third-year running back leads the NFL in rushing, and is currently on pace to break the league’s single-season yards from scrimmage record.

Despite putting up incredible rushing and receiving numbers, Dickerson, who holds the NFL’s single-season rushing record with 2,105 in 1984, says he doesn’t believe McCaffrey gets the respect he truly deserves because he’s white.

Super Bowl champion backs the likes of John Riggins and Larry Csonka are usually identified as the best white running backs of all time, but besides a short blip of success from former Madden posterboy Peyton Hillis, it’s been a position that has never seen much acclaim from caucasian backs.

Check out the audio below as Dickerson thinks McCaffrey’s skin color has always capped his reputation.
